A Canadian Art International Lecture Series in collaboration with the Contemporary Art Society of Vancouver

Born in 1972, Scarborough, Ontario. Shary Boyle graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design in 1994. Encouraged by senior Toronto artists such as Lisa Steele, Ron Gii and Tom Dean, she developed a practice of personal, confrontational image-making. The only artist in a large, suburban, working-class family, Boyle mined her early memories and experiences of female otherness to imagine fantastical alternatives to the limitations of convention.

Shary Boyle’s work can be found in private collections across Canada, the United States and Europe as well as the National Gallery of Canada, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Paisley Museum and Art Gallery, Scotland. She is represented by Jessica Bradley Art + Projects, Toronto.
