In October 2013 Back Gallery Project will be showing work by Holly Marie Armishaw.

Vancouver-based artist Holly Marie Armishaw works primarily in photography and digital imaging. Her work is generally based on the premise of creating photographs of the unphotographable.  Digital imaging allows her to create visual hypothesis of glimpses of metaphysical realities, psychological phenomena, projections of the future and to re-examine history.  For the past four years, these visual hypothesis have taken the form of petite vivid tableaux, often using theatrical self-portraiture and pictorialism to articulate her concepts.  These private performances designed only for the camera mimic the interior privacy of the mind further articulating not only her interest in metaphysics, but also of the private internal world of feminine existence.  Armishaw’s work has been exhibited both locally and internationally, and has appeared in numerous publications and university lectures.
