Laura Piasta is a Vancouver based Artist whoʼs practice often approaches the subject of Landscape through alternative applications where natural occurring phenomena and material become subjects and or participants in the production and reading of the work.Piasta received her BFA from the Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2006 and moved to Europe in 2008 where she complete her MFA in 2012 from the Umeå Academy of Fine Arts in Sweden.

Her work has been exhibited at a number of institutions and galleries in Europe and Canada including Auto Centre Berlin, Bildmuseet Sweden, Blanket Gallery, The Contemporary Art Gallery and Or Gallery in Vancouver Canada. In 2012 she was an Artist in residence at The Banff Centre for the Arts and The Factory of Art and Design in Copenhagen Denmark. This year Piasta was shortlisted for the CASV Emerging Artist Prize, one of 15 finalist in the 16th annual RBC Painting Competition and most notably received the city of Vancouver’s Mayor’s Award for emerging Artist.
