About Fei Disbrow:

Forms and volumes repeat themselves throughout our world: organs can resemble stones, neural pathways resemble tree branch networks, and the topography of the body can resemble a snowfield. Repetition is inherent in life. These similarities and familiarities fascinate Fei, particularly how they relate to the internal and external structure of the body. In her work, she recontextualizes the familiar as unfamiliar, yielding both comforting and unsettling results. Fei uses a variety of media (collage, serigraphy, plaster and wood) to execute her ideas in both two and three-dimensions.

Fei Disbrow has been in numerous solo and juried shows throughout the US and Canada. Though she currently resides in Vancouver, BC, she earned her MFA in sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. While living in Portland, OR, she was awarded a public art grant from RACC, and a residency with the Intermedia Department at PNCA. After moving to Toronto, she was awarded the MST Bronze Award at the Emerging Sculptors Exhibition, at the Canadian Sculpture Centre, and was granted a term in the Guest Renter Program at Open Studios. In 2015 Fei was an Artist in Residence at the Banff Centre of the Arts. Her work resides in the Portland Art Museum print collection, in addition to being part of both corporate and private collections.
