A visit with painter Elizabeth McIntosh at her studio.  She will be presenting new paintings and works in progress.

Recent solo exhibitions include Violet’s Hair at the Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver (2010), A Good Play, Diaz Contemporary, Toronto (2010), Cut Out, Goodwater, Toronto (2009) and Elizabeth McIntosh, Parisian Laundry, Montréal (2007). Her work is currently included in Art on Paper 2010, Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro, North Carolina; and she has participated in group exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery (2006), and Hallwalls, Buffalo, (2003). In 2010, Emily Carr University Press in collaboration with Diaz Contemporary published a monograph of McIntosh’s work entitled A Good Play, which includes essays by Jan Verwoert and Monika Szewczyk and she was featured in Canadian Art. She has been reviewed in Border Crossings, Winnipeg, The Globe and Mail, Toronto and The New York Times. Her work is in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada.

Be bold. I beg you. Don’t hesitate. It’s good this way. And it won’t get any better if we make each other believe that there is a long story behind everything we do to explain why we have to do it in this, not that, particular manner. Jan Verwoert
