Artist Talk with Janine Dunn and Curator Amy Kazymerchyk

June 22, 2024 |  4:30 PM

Join us for an artist talk between Janine Dunn and curator Amy Kazymerchyk discussing Dunn’s practice and first solo exhibition Janine Dunn: cover the taken bone now on view at Pale Fire.

Janine Dunn shares stories of daily life on her farm on the Sunshine Coast through painting. She draws on personal impressions of motherhood, animal husbandry, degradation and repair, shared labour and hospitality, and isolation and solitude. Dunn makes space for the work of dreams, symbols and archetypes to filter her narrative impulses. Influenced by the principles of the early twentieth-century purism movement, which valued basic forms stripped of decoration, she uses methods such as bisection, redaction and abstraction to distill her compositions into simplified figures.

Find more information on the exhibition at the gallery’s website.

We hope you can join us for this exciting event. Space is limited for this public event – book here to reserve your spot!

Become a member to join us on our second stop, which will be at the home of collectors Jeffrey Boone and David Wong.  This CASV members-only reception and tour will begin at 6 PM to 8 PM. For the past 25 years, Jeffrey Boone and his partner David Wong have been collecting art with a growing focus on contemporary representations of culture in landscape. Within their home, they invite a dialogue between artists and ideas, and encourage a consideration of how art works.
