Lynn Chen is a dedicated cultural facilitator and passionate advocate in the arts and culture sector, committed to harnessing the transformative power of community engagement through the arts. As a co-founder of Cinevolution Media Arts Society in 2008, Chen played a pivotal role in fostering intercultural dialogue through film and media arts. Her early work as a Programmer and Designer led to her tenure as Artistic Director from 2013 to 2016, during which she advanced the organization’s mission. Since 2014, Chen has focused on community engagement and the arts in her role as Program Coordinator at the Vancouver Art Gallery’s Centre for Global Asias. In this capacity, she leads program development and expands the CGA’s mandate, which connects local and global Asian communities through art education and dialogue. Chen coordinates a range of programs and events, including Art Party, IAA in-dialogue Artist Talk, and Between Bites: Film and Food. She excels at fostering relationships with artists and community partners, ensuring inclusivity and resonance in all initiatives.

After two decades in telecommunications leading marketing, sales, and international initiatives, including launching offices in Manila and Bucharest, Yvette returned to her first love—the arts. At the Vancouver Art Gallery, she develops member programming such as artist talks, curator tours, and membership campaigns, while also serving as an Art Educator in Public Engagement and Learning, where she creates interactive, hands-on experiences that make contemporary art accessible to families and children. Currently pursuing a Master’s in Museum Education at UBC, she is dedicated to fostering lifelong learning, inclusive community engagement, and sharing the richness of CASV with members and future members alike.

With over two decades in the BC public service, Verna is a trusted advisor to the province’s real estate and information technology infrastructure services. As a senior Director, she has collaborated with local and provincial partners, including the broader public sector, to deliver high-profile projects that drive sector development and innovative partnership programming. Beyond her professional endeavours, Verna is deeply passionate about the arts. For over 20 years, she has served as a senior docent at the Vancouver Art Gallery, dedicated to developing visual literacy among youth and ensuring art remains accessible to all. Verna holds a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University. She is eager to engage in conversations about advancing contemporary arts in Vancouver and contributing to the vibrancy of CASV!

With over a decade of international experience in major markets such as New York, London, Paris, Hong Kong, and Seoul, Kathy is an art tech professional who started her career at auction houses such as Christie’s and Phillips. She has most recently been exploring the importance technology has on the art world and the practice of collecting in various forms. Expressing her people skills through development, partnerships, and logistics, she is curious to discover the impactful meaning of these sectors within the arts. She is passionate about representation and diversity, both crucial for visual culture and the way it is shared, experienced, and consumed. Kathy is thrilled to be contributing to the Vancouver art scene through the well-rounded and engaging programming of CASV.

Carie Helm is a passionate fundraising and arts professional with more than 20 years of experience cultivating meaningful connections across the cultural sector. As Manager of Individual Giving and Membership at The Polygon Gallery since 2021, Carie leads initiatives that deepen community engagement, strengthen donor relationships, and secure vital support for contemporary art.
Throughout her career—including key roles at Western Front, Richmond Art Gallery, Arts Umbrella, and the Kelowna Art Gallery—Carie has combined creativity, compassion, and strategy to foster collaboration and inspire generosity. Driven by curiosity and care, Carie is delighted to contribute to CASV’s history of championing the arts as a catalyst for connection and cultural vitality.

With over 20 years of international experience in the art world—ranging from London to Paris to Basel—Emily is passionate about building bridges between Vancouver and other global art scenes. She has curated exhibitions and led patron events for renowned public institutions such as Whitechapel Gallery, as well as the public talks programs at Art Basel and Art Toronto. Now, she is excited to devise an ambitious and engaging series of events for CASV. Emily has a personal love for studio visits, making this the perfect opportunity to do as many as possible. Through her programming, she aims to map what makes Vancouver’s art scene so unique and to explore the kinds of support and engagement that are essential for its continued growth and for inspiring a new generation of artists.
